GAWF/Animal Action's Equine Project team, consisting of vet Michael Gaganis and farrier Giannis Brastianos travelled to Patmos on the last days of October.

Due to the weather conditions our team could not travel to Leros but was very busy for the days they stayed in Patmos where they saw and treated 43 equines. Most of the equines were in good condition, however there were a lot of new equines that had never been given proper dentistry or farriery care, so our team had to work a lot with some of them.

The final part of the outreach was in a  local sanctuary for retired donkeys in Patmos, where our team was received with great enthusiasm by the family in charge. It has to be noted, that the people there are doing a great job in providing for the lucky donkeys that stay there for the remainder of their lives. Our team was happy to witness that the people of Patmos had followed all of our previous years' recommendations for improving welfare for their equines.

A big thanks to local vet in Leros, Michalis Kontrafouris an the people of Patmos for their support.
